Getting started

This is the path a new engineer should follow. Paths are the same on sandbox and production. The key prefix picks the host. Sandbox is a sample inventory. Use the playground and API Reference to see the schema and a live response. Empty means we do not have that row yet — we do not fill with Medicare.

Wrong host → 403. Missing header → 401.

Create an account

Sign in with a verified email (Google).
Open Sign up and request a free evaluation key.

If you only want to click around first, use the playground. It mints a test key server-side — the browser never holds a live key.

Save the test key

Signup and the console show the full kp_test_… value once. Copy it into your secret store.The console also prints a curl already pointed at https://sandbox.rcintell.com. That is the URL for this key.Quota on a free key is 10 calls/day and 100/month. Do not send PHI.

Confirm the host is up

You should see {"status":"ok"}. No API key is required for /health.

Make a test call

Replace kp_test_YOUR_TEST_KEY with the value you saved.

In API Reference, set the server dropdown to sandbox while you are on a test key.

Try it without curl

Signed-in playground runs the same routes through the website proxy. Use that to explore payloads, then paste the sandbox curls into your client.

Go to production

Upgrade.
In console → API keys, mint a live key (kp_live_…).
Use that key only on https://api.rcintell.com — same path, same X-API-Key header.

If something fails

Symptom	Cause
`401 Missing API key`	No `X-API-Key` header, or you sent `Authorization: Bearer`
`401 Invalid or expired API key`	Typo, or the key was rotated / expired
`403 Test API keys cannot call production`	`kp_test_` was sent to `api.rcintell.com`
`403 Production API keys cannot be used on the test API`	`kp_live_` was sent to sandbox
HTTP 429	Daily or monthly quota — upgrade
`403` on `/v1/policy/parse`	Key minted before the folder surface shipped — remint a `kp_test_` in the console
