Test mode is how you see the platform before a paid plan: what exists, the schema, and a live sample response. Sandbox is a sample inventory, not the full library. Empty is real — we do not fill gaps with Medicare. You do not call production until you upgrade.

Get a test key

  1. Sign in.
  2. Sign up — the key is shown once — or stay in the playground and never copy a key at all.
Use that key only on https://sandbox.rcintell.com. Details: getting started.

What you get for free

  • Playground — signed-in, server-side proxy, no key in the browser
  • kp_test_ keys from sign up or the console
  • Tenant-seeded CCNs (170001, 280003, 180017, 220071, 050625, 330101) and sample CPT codes (below)
  • Hosted MCP on https://sandbox.rcintell.com/v1/mcp
  • 10 calls/day and 100/month on a free key

What you cannot do with a test key

  • Call https://api.rcintell.com (production) — you get 403
  • Send PHI or live claims
  • Exceed the free daily / monthly quota
  • Call agent-compute routes (/v1/agents/…) or admin/operator routes
  • Upload PDFs through the playground proxy (schema is in API Reference; curl if you want a live parse)

Sample calls that return data

In the browser: open the playground. Start with Look up payer policies (Medicare 99213), United commercial (99202), Anthem commercial (00100), or Aetna commercial (93306). Then open the same operation in API Reference to see every field. With curl:
Your-document routes (/v1/policy/parse, /structure, /retrieve) use the same key. Schema: API Reference → Your documents. Walkthrough: Your policy documents. Keys minted before that surface shipped need a remint (allowlist is stored at mint time). GET /health needs no key. The public payer directory (GET /v1/directory/payers/) needs no key either.

Facilities in the tenant database

A test key writes these CCNs into your facilities table. By-CCN routes (/v1/knowledge/*, /v1/codes/{code}/payment) read those Postgres rows. Other CCNs 404 until you register them.

Upgrade

Production keys (kp_live_) are issued after you upgrade. Mint them in the console. They only work on https://api.rcintell.com. See authentication and pricing.
